Bill Burr Early Life

Bill Burr was born in Canton, Massachusetts, to nurse Linda Ann (née Wigent) and dentist Robert Burr. He is of German, Irish, and distant French descent, and has mentioned being distantly related to Aaron Burr, the third U.S. vice president. Burr graduated from high school in 1987 and briefly attended North Carolina State University before transferring to Emerson College in Boston, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in radio in 1993. While attending college, Burr had the opportunity to study under the writer David Foster Wallace. Prior to launching his comedy career, Burr worked in various warehouses, where he appreciated the freedom the job offered—he often remarked that if a boss gave him trouble, he could simply hop on a forklift and drive away.
