Ari Michael Shapiro born September 30, 1978 is an American radio journalist. In September 2015, he became one of the four rotating hosts of All Things Considered, National Public Radio’s flagship drive-time program. Before this role, Shapiro served as NPR’s White House correspondent and as an international correspondent based in London.

Shapiro was born in Fargo, North Dakota, to Elayne (née Halpern), a university communications professor, and Leonard Shapiro, a database researcher and university educator. He is of Jewish heritage. At the age of eight, he and his family moved to Beaverton, Oregon, where he attended Beaverton High School. Shapiro graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. While at Yale, he was a member of the Mixed Company of Yale a cappella group and the Scroll and Key secret society.
