Early Life
On September 26, 1962, in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, Archana Puran Singh was born. She graduated from the University of Delhi with a degree in English literature after attending a convent school in Dehradun. One of Archana’s two brothers from her childhood is Sandeep Singh. On June 30, 1992, she wed actor and director Parmeet Sethi. Blessed are the two sons that the couple has: Aaryamann and Ayushmaan. Archana had a prior marriage that tragically ended in divorce prior to her union with Parmeet. After that, she fell in love with Bollywood director Pankaj Parashar, who had also helmed JALWA, her first film.
Career
She began acting in 1987, first with Aditya Pancholi in a TV film called Abhishek. In the same year, she acted with Naseeruddin Shah in a movie named Jalwa. Later, she got smaller roles in popular films like Raja Hindustani (1996), Agneepath (1990), Saudagar (1991), Shola aur Shabnam (1992), and Aashiq Awara (1993). She also appeared in songs for movies like Judge Mujrim with Suniel Shetty and Baaz with Govinda. She then focused on supporting roles, mostly in comedy films. Love Story 2050, Mohabbatein, Krrish, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Masti, De Dana Dan, and Bol Bachchan are some of her well-known works.
Starting as a TV host in 1993 on Zee TV with shows like Wah, Kya Scene Hai, and Uncensored, she later tried acting and hosting Archana Talkies on Sony TV while appearing in series like Shrimaan Shrimati and Junoon. She also featured on the show Zee Horror Show. Besides acting, she produced Samne Wali Khidki and attempted to direct sitcoms such as Jaane Bhi Do Paaro and Nehle Pe Dehla. In 2005, she and her husband Parmeet Sethi joined the dance reality show Nach Baliye 1. The couple then hosted the first season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, another dance reality show, in 2006.
