Andrew Rannells Biography: Andrew Scott Rannells born August 23, 1978 is an American actor best known for originating the role of Elder Kevin Price in the 2011 Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, a performance that earned him a Tony Award nomination and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album in 2012. He received a second Tony nomination in 2017 for his portrayal of Whizzer in the 2016 Broadway revival of Falsettos. His other Broadway credits include Hairspray (2005), Jersey Boys (2009), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2014), Hamilton (2015), The Boys in the Band (2018), and Gutenberg! The Musical! (2023). He was also nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award for his role in the Off West End production of Tammy Faye.

Early Life and Education
Rannells was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Charlotte and Ronald Rannells. He is the fourth of five children, with three sisters and an older brother. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes grade school and later Creighton Preparatory School, an all-boys Catholic high school in Omaha. After graduating, he left the Catholic Church due to sexual abuse he experienced from a priest during high school. His family lived in Omaha’s Hanscom Park neighborhood.
Rannells began acting at age 11, taking classes at the Emmy Gifford Children’s Theater and performing in local venues such as the Omaha Community Playhouse, Firehouse Dinner Theatre, and Dundee Dinner Theatre. He did community theater with fellow Omaha native Conor Oberst and began voice-over and commercial work, including a 1996 Grease parody alongside Amy Adams.
