His film career includes performances in 28 Days (2000), A Knight’s Tale (2001), Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004), and as the voice and motion capture performer for Sonny in I, Robot (2004). He also appeared in 3:10 to Yuma (2007) and starred in the cult black comedy horror film Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (2010). Tudyk’s other notable film credits include Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), 42 (2013), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), and Trumbo (2015). He has been a regular voice actor for every Walt Disney Animation Studios film since 2012. Alan Tudyk was born in El Paso, Texas, to Betty Loyce and Timothy Nicholas Tudyk, with his paternal roots tracing back to Polish ancestry. Raised in Plano, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, Tudyk attended Plano Senior High School. Early in his career, he dabbled in stand-up comedy but quickly abandoned it after a threatening encounter with an audience member. He then pursued drama studies at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas, where he earned the Academic Excellence award for his performance. During college, he also participated in a summer stock theater production of Billy the Kid, playing the role of Beaver Smith. Tudyk was later accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School but left in 1996 without completing his degree.
