Who is Aditi Rao Hydari?
Aditi Rao Hydari is an Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. Born into the Tyabji–Hydari family, she made her film debut with the Malayalam film Prajapathi.
The vocalist Vidya Rao and engineer Ahsan Hydari welcomed Aditi Rao Hydari into the world in Hyderabad. 2013 saw the death of Aditi’s father, a Sulaimani Bohra Muslim. Aditi’s mother, a practicing Buddhist, was born into a Telugu family into the family of a Mangalore-bred Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin father. Hydari’s parents are both nobles from the former state of Hyderabad. Aditi’s father was the nephew of Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, the former governor of Assam, and the grandson of Akbar Hydari, the former prime minister of the state of Hyderabad. She should not be confused with the novelist Shanta Rama Rao. Vidya is the stepdaughter of the former Raja of Wanaparthy, J. Rameshwar Rao. He was one of the four nobles with the highest position in the Nizam of Hyderabad’s court. Known as Wanaparthy, his ancestral Jagir, was one of the four major feudal estates under Hyderabad state, with its owners bearing the title of “Maharaja.” Aditi’s maternal first cousin is Indian film producer, screenwriter, and director Kiran Rao, the former spouse of actor Aamir Khan.
After becoming friends with Leela Samson since she was eleven years old, Hydari developed an interest in Bharatanatyam dancing and started her career as a dancer. She was employed by Samson’s dance company, Spanda, where she taught students and traveled to India and other countries to give theatrical performances. Hydari wrapped up her first acting project, Sringaram, in early 2004. In it, she played the lead role of a 19th-century temple dancer known as a devadasi. Padmini Ravi, a well-known Bharatanatyam dancer, produced the Tamil film, which was directed by Sharada Ramanathan. Following her dance performance at a convention, Hydari received an offer for the role from Ramanathan, who was also taken by her “vulnerable and fresh face” and similarity to dancer Shobana.
However, Prajapathi (2006), a Malayalam movie in which she costarred with Mammootty, was her first theatrical release. Actress Suhasini had recommended her to filmmaker Ranjith for the role, and she was chosen when the director made contact with her through Sringaram’s cinematographer, Madhu Ambat. Hydari played an orphan girl who develops feelings for the character played by Mammootty, however the critic from Rediff said that Hydari “has nothing to do with the overall plot” and that her role was therefore small. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra cast her in 2009 for his Hindi drama film Delhi-6, in which she played an unmarried lady in a society that disapproved of spinsterhood in a supporting part.

Hydari was reportedly married to Indian lawyer and former actor Satyadeep Mishra in 2002, according to reports from 2004 and 2009. The actress revealed that she and Mishra were no longer together in a 2013 interview, despite having refusing to discuss their marital status in a 2012 interview. It was during her first serious relationship with Mishra, whom Hydari had met when she was seventeen years old. She was attempting to become an actor, so they kept their marriage a secret when she married him at the age of 24. The two are still close friends despite their current separation and have maintained contact over the years. On the sets of their movie, Maha Samudram, Hydari got to know actor Siddharth.
