Born in Blackpool on 12 June 1979, Jodie Prenger is of mixed heritage, with a Dutch father and an English mother of partial Irish descent. She has one brother and was educated at Elmslie Girls’ School, followed by Blackpool and the Fylde College. Early in her career, she worked as an entertainer in the local area and performed on the Northern England cabaret circuit. She also worked briefly as an agony aunt. she appeared in the Tiptoes Summer Spectacular at Blackpool’s Opera House and, just 20 minutes later, took on a leading role in Hot Mikado, a musical comedy staged by Blackpool and the Fylde College at the Grand Theatre.
Jodie made her television debut in 1999 on Granada Television’s A Taste for Travel, appearing alongside her mother. In 2000, she featured on BBC One’s The Other Half, hosted by Dale Winton, where she humorously pretended to be the wife of boxer Chris Eubank.
