During his freshman year at Ohio State, Conley averaged 11.3 points per game and led the Big Ten in assists, averaging 6.1 per game. Alongside Greg Oden, he helped the Buckeyes win the Big Ten Championship and reach the NCAA Tournament final. On their journey to the championship game, Ohio State defeated Central Connecticut State, Xavier, Tennessee, Memphis, and Georgetown. They eventually fell to defending champion Florida in the title game.
