Priced starting from Rs 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is a subcompact SUV that takes inspiration from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. While both vehicles have similar foundations, the UC Taisor has been uniquely styled by Toyota to establish its own identity.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor has been introduced in the Indian market. This vehicle essentially represents Toyota’s rebranded edition of the Maruti Fronx, signifying the manufacturer’s return to the sub-4m SUV segment. Toyota is presenting it in five main versions. Reservations are currently available for Rs 11,000, with deliveries scheduled to commence from May 2024.
- It is based on the Maruti Fronx and is the sixth shared product between Maruti and Toyota.
- Gets differently designed grille, LED lighting front and rear, and alloy wheels over the Fronx.
- Has the exact same cabin as the Fronx, even the black and maroon themed interior.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: Styling
The new Urban Cruiser Taisor shares the same proportions as the Fronx but features a unique front design for a fresh appearance. This coupe-styled subcompact SUV now sports a more striking honeycomb mesh grille in glossy black, along with new twin LED DRLs that showcase the Toyota logo prominently at the center. The SUV features updated LED taillights that are linked by a light bar on the rear, along with redesigned alloy wheels. The Taisor maintains its fashionable look with the sloping rear windshield.

The cabin of the Taisor closely resembles that of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, featuring a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a twin-pod instrument console with a MID unit in the center. Although the cabin has received a new dual-tone treatment, most other features have been retained. In terms of features, the Taisor is equipped with an automatic climate control system, connected car technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 360-degree camera, head-up display, cruise control, automatic LED headlamps with DRLs, and more. Additionally, this subcompact model offers a six-speaker sound system, push-button start/stop, and rear AC vents for added comfort.

The new Toyota Taisor is available with a choice of two engines – a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated and a 1.0-liter turbo petrol. The 1.2 engine delivers 89 bhp and 113 Nm torque, while the turbocharged version produces 99 bhp and 148 Nm torque. Both engines can be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, with the 1.2-liter also having a 5-speed AMT and the turbo petrol equipped with a 6-speed torque converter. Additionally, a CNG powertrain option is offered.
