Mitchell Josef Santner, born on 5 February 1992, is a New Zealand cricketer who competes in all formats of the sport. He represents the Northern Districts cricket team domestically. Known as a bowling all-rounder with a left-handed batting style and slow left-arm orthodox spin bowling, he holds the record for the 7th wicket partnership in Tests for New Zealand. In addition to cricket, Santner also enjoys playing golf. Rising to prominence after a successful 2014–15 season, he joined the New Zealand team post the retirement of Daniel Vettori following the 2015 World Cup to provide a left-arm spin option. Santner impressed early on during the England tour with a notable 94 against Somerset, earning him his One Day International debut at Edgbaston after just 19 List A matches for Northern Districts. In November 2020, Santner took on the role of captain for New Zealand in the third T20I match against the West Indies.
