Chris Jackson was born in Metropolis, Illinois, and raised in nearby Cairo by his mother, Jane Adams, a vocal music teacher, and his stepfather, Herbert Michael Hodges. He graduated from Cairo High School in 1993. During his time there, he actively participated in school plays and was encouraged to pursue acting by his teacher Lynn Steveson, who also led the school’s debate team. She notably cast him in a production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible.
Jackson also credits several community figures for shaping his early life, including Pilots basketball coach Larry Baldwin and Pastor Larry Potts of the Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center.
