Kim Zolciak was born in Pensacola, Florida, into a military family and raised in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Her parents are Joseph and Karen, and she has one brother, Michael. She is of Polish and Italian descent and was raised in the Roman Catholic faith.
At 17, Zolciak was involved in an affair with a Windsor Locks police sergeant who had interviewed her as a witness in a criminal case. The incident initially led to the officer’s dismissal, which was later reduced to a 45-day unpaid suspension. Two years later, he was forced to retire; he passed away in 2019. Zolciak attended East Catholic High School in Manchester, Connecticut, but left after her freshman year. She went on to study nursing at the University of Connecticut. At 21, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where her parents had relocated, eventually settling in the suburb of Johns Creek.
