Professional Wrestling Career
Frobel began training to wrestle at age 14. In early 2004, he trained at Squared Circle Training in Toronto, Ontario, under coach Rob Fuego. He made his professional wrestling debut later that year in Hamtramck, Michigan, wrestling as Michael Elgin. Since the Ontario Athletic Commission prohibited wrestlers under 18 from competing professionally, Frobel traveled to Montreal and several U.S. states — including Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana — to continue wrestling as a minor.
Since 2005, Elgin has been a prominent figure in various independent promotions across Canada and the United States. He competed in Combat Zone Wrestling and the Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South, where he captured the Strong Style Championship. In 2010, Elgin attended a tryout camp for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
