As an amateur, he earned silver medals at the 2019 Pan American Games, the 2019 World Championships, and the 2020 Summer Olympics. Davis made his professional debut on February 27, 2021, against Lester Brown. In the second round, he dropped Brown with a left hook to the head. Although Brown was able to recover, Davis soon secured the victory by landing a series of powerful punches, prompting the referee to stop the fight.

Davis’ second professional bout came on April 3, 2021, against Richman Ashelley. He dominated the fight, and in the fourth round, a barrage of heavy punches from Davis forced Ashelley’s corner to retire their fighter at the end of the round, as he was unable to continue. Davis was taken the full distance for the first time in his career during a fight with Jose Antonio Meza on the undercard of the Canelo Álvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders event on May 8, 2021. Davis won the bout by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the fight in his favor, as he won every round.
