Ram Gopal Yadav, born on June 29, 1946, is an Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh. He serves as the Secretary-General of the Samajwadi Party and has been a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Rajya Sabha since 2008. Previously, he represented Sambhal as an MP in the Lok Sabha from 2004 to 2008. On October 23, 2016, he was expelled from the Samajwadi Party by Shivpal Singh Yadav, the state president, but was later reinstated.

On December 30, 2016, his cousin Mulayam Singh Yadav expelled him from the party again for six years; however, this expulsion was revoked the next day on constitutional grounds. Early in his life, Ram Gopal Yadav was born in Saifai village, located in the Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh, to Bachchi Lal Yadav and Phool Wati. He had a sister named Geeta Devi, who passed away in August 2021.

Ram Gopal Yadav Early Life
Ram Gopal Yadav married Phoolan Devi on May 4, 1962, and together they had one daughter and three sons, including Akshay Yadav. Phoolan Devi passed away in August 2010. One of his sons, Asit Yadav, known as Billu Yadav, tragically died in a road accident in 1999. Subsequently, Billu’s wife, Abhilasha Yadav, married Anurag Yadav, the brother of Dharmendra Yadav, in 2004.
