Shetty was born into a Tulu-speaking Bunt family in Mangalore, Karnataka.Both her late father Surendra Shetty and mother Sunanda Shetty worked in the pharmaceutical sector as tamper-proof water cap producers.She is the older sister of Shamita Shetty.
