Eligibility Criteria:
- Educational Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Candidates must have passed the Matriculation examination with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or an equivalent qualification.
- Age Limits: Candidates must be between 21 and 37 years old as of January 1, 2025, for most posts. For positions in Punjab Police and Prisons Services, the maximum age limit is 28 years. Age relaxations are available for reserved categories:
- SC/BC: Additional 5 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Service duration subtracted from actual age, within limits
- Widows, Divorced Women, and Handicapped: Relaxation up to 42 years, excluding police-related roles

PPSC PCS Selection Process 2025
The PPSC State Civil Services Examination consists of three stages: the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview.
Preliminary Examination:
This screening test consists of two objective papers: General Studies and the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). Both papers are multiple-choice questions. Only the marks obtained in the General Studies paper are used to shortlist candidates for the next stage, while the CSAT paper is qualifying, requiring a minimum of 40% to pass.
Main Examination:
Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination will move to the Main Examination, which includes seven descriptive papers. These include:
- Punjabi
- English
- Essay Writing
- Four General Studies papers that cover critical areas such as Punjab’s history, economy, governance, and more.
Interview:
The final stage is an interview, where candidates are assessed for their overall suitability for the roles. The marks from both the Main Examination and the Interview are combined to create the final merit list.
