Early life
Pochettino was born in Murphy, Santa Fe, to Amalia and Héctor Pochettino, a farmworker. His family descended from Piedmont, Italy. Between the ages of eight and ten, he played football and volleyball, as well as judo. As a child, he rooted for Racing Club de Avellaneda.
