Early life
On July 18, 1998, Ishan Kishan arrived in Patna, Bihar. In Patna, his father Pranav Kumar Pandey works as a builder. Domestic career
In the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy game versus Delhi, on November 6, 2016, Kishan hit 273 runs, a record for a Jharkhand batsman in the competition. With 484 runs in six games in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy and 405 runs in nine games in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, he led Jharkhand in scoring.
He was selected for the India C team for the 2018–19 Deodhar Trophy in October 2018, and he made a century in the championship match. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for 2018–19, he struck an undefeated century against Jammu and Kashmir in February 2019. He struck 113 not out in the following game versus Manipur to make back-to-back tournament century.
Indian Premier League
Gujarat Lions acquired Kishan in the 2016 Indian Premier League auction.The Mumbai Indians purchased him in the 2018 auctions. With 516 runs from 14 games, he was Mumbai’s top run scorer in the 2020 season and took home the trophy for most sixes hit in a season. Prior to the 2022 Indian Premier League, Kishan had been bought by Mumbai once more for ₹15.25 crore, which translates to ₹16 crore or US$2.0 million in 2023. International Career
Ishan was included in India’s Twenty20 Internacional (T20I) team for their home series against England in February 2021. Road Accident in Patna
Ishan Kishan and his father was involved in a road accident on 12 January 2016 in the Kankarbagh area of Patna. According to once source, Ishan was driving the car when it collided with an autorikshaw, and according to another source, his father driving the car, and Ishan was sitting in the front seat during the moment of the accident. During the accident, one woman was injured who was later admitted to a hospital for treatment. The local public present at the site of accident had an argument with Ishan and his father and also beat them up before police arrived and intervened between them. Vijay Kumar Mishra, the Officer In Charge of Kankarbagh police station, later talked to the media and said that both parties reached a mutual agreement, No FIR was filed against anyone regarding the accident, and neither Ishan nor his father were arrested.
Rejected to play Duleep Trophy
Selectors of the East Zone team in the Duleep Trophy contacted Ishan Kishan before the 2023 season to ask about his schedule if he was free to play in the Duleep Trophy. Ishan told the selector that he would not play in the Duleep Trophy. While talking to a media reporter, the selector did not reveal his own name, but he said that Ishan did not reveal the reason behind not playing for East Zone, and Abhishek Porel was chosen in Ishan’s place.
Stopping the delivery with hands
During the ODI match against Sri Lanka on 12 September 2023, which was a Super 4 stage match during the 2023 Asia Cup, Ishan was batting as a middle order batsman when the Sri Lankan player Sadeera Samarawickrama threw a ball towards him while fielding in the 25th over. Ishan stopped the ball with his hands after which the Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka and Samarawickrama gestured an apology for the mistimed throw. While many fans said that Sri Lanka played according to the spirit of the game, many others claimed that Ishan should have been given out for obstructing the field. |
