Bihar Police ASI Steno Exam Structure:

The BPSSC conducts written competitive exams for the “Stenographer Assistant Sub Inspector” posts in the Home Department (Police Branch) of the Bihar Government. There are two question papers in the written exam.

Bihar Police ASI Steno Paper 1:

  • General Hindi, 100 multiple-choice questions, total of 100 marks.
  • Minimum qualifying marks: 30.
  • Duration: 90 minutes.
  • The marks obtained in Paper 1 are not considered for the final merit list.

Bihar Police ASI Steno Paper 2:

  • 100 multiple-choice questions on General Knowledge and Current Affairs, totaling 200 marks.
  • Duration: 120 minutes.
  • Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer.

Skill Test Details:

Candidates who pass the written exam must take the skill test for shorthand dictation and typing in Hindi and English.

Dictation Test: A 5-minute Hindi dictation at 80 words per minute. Candidates have 20 minutes to type it, with 2 minutes allocated for corrections. No more than 10% mistakes are allowed.

Typing Test: Candidates must type 300 words in Hindi and English on a computer in 10 minutes each, at a minimum speed of 30 WPM. Mistakes should not exceed 5% in Hindi and 10% in English. Typing less than 300 words in the given time leads to disqualification.

Computer Knowledge Test: Tests practical knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the internet. Failure in this test results in disqualification.
