Bangladesh Wining Matches
Bangladesh proved themselves by hosting the 1998 ICC KnockOut Trophy and beating Pakistan in 1999. Soon after, they began a first-class competition and became the tenth Test-playing nation in June 2000. It took them 34 matches to win their first Test, which happened against Zimbabwe. Despite a humiliating first Test at Lord’s, they redeemed themselves by defeating Australia in an ODI in Cardiff on the same tour.
After some unsuccessful coaches, Dav Whatmore improved Bangladesh cricket in the mid-2000s. The team defeated India and South Africa in the 2007 World Cup. Players like Mashrafe Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, and Mushfiqur Rahim contributed. Senior players retired in 2008, leading to young talents taking over. The team progressed under coaches like Jamie Siddons, Shane Jurgensen, and Chandika Hathurusinghe. Shakib excelled as the top allrounder for a long time; Mashrafe strengthened the team at home ODIs; and Tamim performed well as an opener. They continued this success by beating England and Australia in Tests during 2016 and 2017. Although historically struggling in World Cups, cricket remains the top sport in Bangladesh.
