Premise
Set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), the plot revolves around a group of adolescent space colonists who, while exploring a derelict space station, come face to face with the most horrific living form in the cosmos.
Production
After the Walt Disney Company purchased 21st Century Fox, it was formally revealed at the 2019 CinemaCon that future Alien films were in development. Fede Álvarez will write and direct the first film in the franchise, which will be released on Hulu in the US. The film will be “unconnected” to previous films. It was then revealed that the picture would take place between Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), with certain technical crew members returning from the latter and visual effects from Image Engine from Alien: Ore (2019).
By November, Cailee Spaeny had agreed to star. Isabela Merced was cast as Spaeny’s co-star in March 2023. Later that month, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu all joined the cast. The principal photography took held in Budapest from March 9 to July 3, 2023. The film was shot chronologically and had actual effects. Benjamin Wallfisch composed the score.
